HONOLULU, Hawaii – At the Annual Hawaii Wing Conference and Awards Banquet on Saturday, September 8, Maj. Lisa Myrick, Hawaii Wing Interim Commander, relinquished command to newly-promoted Col. Chantal Lonergan.

Lonergan received her promotion minutes before she accepted command. Maj. Gen. Mark Smith, Civil Air Patrol National Commander, assisted Lonergan’s daughter, Cadet Airman 1st Class Jaimelynn Lonergan, in a time-honored tradition of replacing an Airman’s current rank insignia with new rank insignia during a promotion ceremony.

Col. Jon Stokes, Pacific Coast Region Commander, presided over the change of command, during which the ceremonial passing of the wing guidon from Myrick to Lonergan represented the transfer of authority and responsibility from one officer to another.

The Banquet was held at the Hickam Air Force Base Officers Club. In addition to Maj. Gen. Smith and Col. Stokes, other special guests included former Wing Commanders Col. John Henry Felix, Col. Stan Fernandez, and Col. Pat Collins; CAP-USAF Pacific Liaison Region Director of Operations Ed Gelzinis; and Hickam Air Force Base 15th Wing commander, Col. W. Halsey Burks.
